Let me start by saying that I think FOX does a great job of broadcasting NFL games. They have a great set of commentators, all the games are in HD and they always have their cameras in the right place at the right time. That being said, where was that professionalism when they aired the BCS games? I'm not sure they could have done a worse job. I can't imagine how upset a gambler would have been watching one of those game. Well, maybe I can.
- Thank god for Tivo! Out of the four games that FOX aired, they showed a total of six replays. Did they only have two cameras there? Where they using a rookie producer? I'm guessing the producer was a gentleman in his early twenties based on all the cheerleader shots. Even on plays that were being challenged they didn't have a replay. FOX, I just want you to know that you shortened the life of my Tivo by 2 years.
- Weird camera angles. Did anyone else notice that FOX tried to get cute with the skycam during field goal attempts? It was always some distorted shot in which you couldn't see the ball and made you feel like you were hanging upside-down from the monkey bars. Not even the Tivo helped me out here.
- Where's Joe Buck!? Couple of questions for you, FOX. First of all, why do you fly Jimmy Johnson and Fran Tarkenton all over the U.S in a private jet to do the pre-game? Have either even watched a game of college football in the last twenty years? To make matters worse, why did you're JV play-by-play guys out there? Where's Joe Buck. Outside of the Daytona 500, that guy does every major event FOX owns the rights to. I guess the National Championship just isn't that big a deal.
- Commercial breaks. Seriously, who produced these games? Were they drinking? Commercial breaks were running into the live action. I think they missed three field goals (not that you would have been able to see the ball anyway) while commercials were running.
I'm getting too upset to list anymore. The bottom line is that FOX really botched their BCS programming. I can't imagine any executive is happy after paying all that money to produce such an inferior product. It's almost as if they had to be reminded 30 minutes before that there was a football game. I am begging you FOX, next year, bring your NFL team. Pretty please!
